Laura Wheat, owner of The Lab On Main, has nearly two decades of experience behind the chair. Since opening her first salon in 2019, she has been passionate about mentoring new beauty professionals.
"When I first started, it was clear that I had much to learn. It was impossible to find the leadership I needed in a salon. For years I took it upon myself to hunt down the education I needed to develop my skills behind the chair and learn how to properly operate a business that could sustain my life. I don't want to see beauty professionals struggle like I did.
It is my mission to build true professionals and give them the support I never had when I needed it the most."
Laura's goal is for The Lab to be a place where each team member can gain every tool necessary for their success and for every client to come in, relax, and receive high quality work from beauty professionals they can trust.
We're ready to bring your vision to life and make sure you leave the salon doing double-takes every time you catch a reflection of yourself.

At The Lab, we prioritize education and training. Each team member is at a different stage of their career in the beauty industry. Just because one may be closer to the beginning does not make them less talented or less capable of delivering high-quality work.
If a stylist or apprentice has availability for a service, it's because they can perform it well.
We offer a wide variety of hair and nail services at The Lab. While we specialize in nail art, hair cutting, balayage, lived-in, and vivid colors, our favorite part will always be making your experience everything you want and more.
The Lab is gratuity-free. Our prices include everything we need to get you to your goal. If you feel you must leave a tip we ask that you bring cash, but it's absolutely not expected!

I'm a helper by nature, and I love the beauty industry. After nearly 20 years behind the chair helping people feel their best, I built The Lab to be the kind of salon our industry needs more of: one where stylists get solid training and leadership as well as business tools that will support them throughout their career.
My goal is for every guest who visits the salon to leave with results they're obsessed with, and for each person doing the work to feel confident in their craft.
